Is It Worth it to Jailbreak your iDevice?
In my few months with a jailbreak on my iPod, there have been many features that I have gotten from Cydia that help me with being more organized. One of the many features that I have installed is called FolderEnhancer, it allows you to get more than 12 apps in one folder, instead it allows up to 120 apps in a folder, and lets you have paged folders/vertical pages. There are also many other tweaks and other apps that allow you to monitor the memory and there is another that allows you to have five apps on the app-dock.

This is the First to our Many Part Series of Visual Basic Tutorials and Today we are just starting off like a beginner would. Doing the "Hello World!" Tutorial. We are going to make a program that when you push a button, it will give you a message box stating "Hello World!"
First, start off by opening Visual Basic(or if you need to download and install it, watch this video http://www.techperiod.com/2011/11/how-to-install-visual-basicnet-2010.html). Next we want to create a new "Windows Forms Application" and name it "Hello World" or whatever you like.
Now we want to drag a Button into anywhere in the little window with the title "Form1". Then make sure the button is clicked on, and go to the right and in the properties window area, find the "Text" and change that to "Show" or what you want you button to show.

With the rapid growth of mobile phone usage in recent years, we have often observed that the mobile phone has become a part of many illegal and criminal activities. So in most cases, tracing the mobile number becomes a vital part of the investigation process. Also sometimes we just want to trace a mobile number for reasons like annoying prank calls, blackmails, unknown number in a missed call list or similar.
Even though it is not possible to trace the number back to the caller, it is possible to trace it to the location of the caller and also find the network operator. Just have a look at this page on tracing Indian mobile numbers from Wikipedia. Using the information provided on this page, it is possible to certainly trace any mobile number from India and find out the location (state/city) and network operator (mobile operator) of the caller. All you need for this is only the first 4-digit of the mobile number. In this Wiki page you will find all the mobile number series listed in a nice tabular column where they are categorized based on mobile operator and the zone (state/city). This Wiki page is updated regularly so as to provide up-to-date information on newly added mobile number series and operators. I have used this page many a time and have never been disappointed.

By using the information in this article, you can only know “where” the call is from and not “who” the caller is. Only the mobile operator is able to tell you ”who” the caller is. Facebook is uploading icontacts from your smartphone, not everyone can see them. But ...
The bruhaha began when the following message began popping into people's Facebook feeds on Wednesday (including ours):
"Friends! ALL THE PHONE NUMBERS IN YOUR PHONE are now PUBLISHED on Facebook!"
- Go to the top right of the screen,click on Account,
- then click on Edit Friends,
- go left on the screen and click on Contacts.
- Then go to the right hand side and click on 'visit page' to remove this display option. Please repost this on your Status, so your friends can remove their numbers and thus prevent abuse if they do not want them published.
It's true, we noticed that we had the phone numbers of a number of our contacts in Facebook, and we didn't put them there. In fact, we didn't even know them.In addition, if your friends had phone information in their profile, and shared it, you'd now see it as well. In other words, what Facebook did was combine, or consolidate, the phone numbers from your smartphone and the phone numbers from your Facebook Friends into one list.
You just weren't expecting it, and Facebook didn't highlight the feature enough when it added.
In fact, if you visit your account and your contacts page in Facebook, off on the right you'll see:

Android nears 50 percent global market share: Canalys Q2 2011 report
Android has the Lion's share (pun intended) of the U.S. smartphone market, at 29 percent, but its global market share makes that look silly, according to a new report by Canalys. That report says that Android has 48 percent, nearly one-half, of the world smartphone market.
Market research firm Canalys' Q2 2011 report also stated that during Q2, 107.7 million smartphones shipped globally, which represents 73 percent growth year-over-y6ear. Of those, 39.8 million smartphones were shipped in APAC, and 35 million units in EMEA. 32.9 million smartphone units were shipped in the Americas.
During Q2, Android shipments hit 51.9 million, growing 379 percent compared year-over-year. The popularity of the platform in Asia was amazing. For example, in South Korea, Android captured 85 percent market share. That makes extreme sense since that's the home of Samsung. Meanwhile, in Taiwan, Android grabbed 71 percent share.
The big losers might be RIM and Microsoft. RIM dropped from 14.4 percent to 12 percent globally. Meanwhile, Microsoft, despite its brand-spanking new Windows Phone is still dropping. It shipped less than 1.5 million Windows Phone-based smartphones during Q2, amounting to just 1 percent market share, which is a 52 percent drop year-over-year.
Nokia savior might be Microsoft. Microsoft's savior might be Nokia. Since the two are known to be partnering on Windows Phone-based Nokia phones, the two are depending on each other to restore their declining fortunes.
Meanwhile, Android keeps skyrocketing globally, and iOS continues to trundle along, nicely. Whither webOS?

Sony Gaming Chief Hints at PSP2 Touch Controls
The PSP Go only launched here in India yesterday, but we’ve been hearing rumors about the next iteration of the Playstation Portable for a while now. And Kazuo “Kaz Hirai” Hirai, Sony Computer Entertainment chief, recently spoke to New York Times about the possibilities of the new device, among other things.
The most interesting thing to come out of this was the hint that the PSP2 could have touch controls. "Depending on the game, there are ones where you can play perfectly well with a touch panel," Hirai said. "But you can definitely play immersive games better with physical buttons and pads. I think there could be games where you’re able to use both in combination.”
This could be Hirai’s acknowledgement of the success enjoyed by the Nintendo DS and Apple’s iDevices. It could also be acknowledgement of the growing market for casual games, something Hirai said could end up being a good thing. “We’re seeing people who never had an interest in games join the gaming population. That means that the gaming industry pie is getting bigger.”
However, the increase in the industry pie’s size has also resulted in an increase of Apple’s share of the pie, something that has been well proven by the enormous success enjoyed by games such as Angry Birds and Infinity Blade. Kaz isn’t too worried though, as he feels gamers who want to play intense games will still continue to prefer the PSP platform. “The games being played on Android and Apple platforms are fundamentally different from the world of immersive games that Sony Computer Entertainment, and PlayStation, aims for.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops passes $1 billion in sales
has surpassed $1 billion in worldwide sales, after only six weeks of sales, Activision announced earlier this week. The video game's first day sales set a record, eclipsing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the prior record holder, which had $310 million in sales its first day.Activision also announced that the game is setting online usage records. For one thing, since its launch on November 9th, Call of Duty: Black Ops players have played more than 600 million hours, or the equivalent of more than 68,000 years.
Call of Duty: Black Ops players are spending an average of 87 minutes per day online. That exceeds the average of Facebook users, who spend about 55 minutes a day online. Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing said,
"The $1 billion milestone is staggering, but it doesn't tell the whole story. The true measure of Black Ops' success lies in the millions of hours that people are investing in this game and this community. Call of Duty has in many ways become one of the world's most engaged social networks. We are grateful to and humbled by the ongoing support of the gaming community and we are committed to continuing to give them the greatest gaming experiences that we can."

A PC game developer claims it's adding Kinect support to a current MMORPG.
Korean-based developer GamePrix has launched a new MMORPG for the PC called Divine Souls. The game promises to resemble console titles by featuring a combat mode similar to what's used in Tekken and other console-based fighting games. However the big news is that it will eventually support Microsoft's motion-sensing device for the Xbox 360, Kinect.
"The game's support of gaming pads make it resemble console games even more, and is scheduled to support Kinect, a new control system of Xbox360," GamePrix's Jason Lim told IncGamers. "Kinect will soon be available as a new controller so it might be supported like joy pad mode in the future. Currently in MS, there are many game companies that are trying to apply for this system.”
But don't get your hopes up just yet, as there's speculation that the Kinect-PC marriage will remain in a rumor state. Theoretically big-name developers and publishers would have top priority, announcing Kinect support for their games before smaller studios. There's also the fact that Kinect was meant to be an Xbox 360-only peripheral, and not a PC gaming device.
So far we're assuming that Microsoft hasn't planned or developed native software for the Windows platform. In fact, Kinect may need more than simple drivers-- maybe a software suite to cover most of the hardware-related scenarios (fragmentation) that plague the PC gaming platform. Even more, Kinect uses body motions that are best suited for open space in front of the TV. That said, the desktop isn't an ideal scenario, especially for a Tekken-like 1-on-1 combat mode.
It's more than likely Divine Souls will receive unofficial support for Microsoft's Kinect. We've already seen the device in action as "hackers" have found various ways to take advantage of the Kinect's technology. However Microsoft hasn't stepped up to announce any type of PC-related official support. In fact, the company originally condemned the practice of using the device outside its Xbox 360 environment until just recently, changing its gears and embracing the efforts of the Kinect "hacking" community.
Perhaps we'll see something from a Kinect-PC marriage next month at CES 2011. Then again, maybe not.

How to Install and Remove/Delete/Uninstall Apps and Games in Windows Phone 7
Unlike the earlier versions of Windows Mobile where installing an application or game was very time-consuming, Windows Phone 7 offers access to the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace hub which is very similar to the iPhone App Store and the Android Market. You can now install and remove apps and games on your Windows Phone 7 device very easily.

Just click on the Start button and tap on the Marketplace. Press the Search button and type the name of the app or game you want to install.
You can also click on Apps or Games in Marketplace and browse through various categories of apps and games and select the one you want.
