HTC prepare online stores compete with Android Market?

Not enough just to make handsets for overthrew Apple, HTC was preparing to launch its own app store that allows them to sell e-Book or application. Even reportedly developing an online store is a step.
Taiwanese manufacturer that hopes to distribute content and services to their own devices. HTC desire is also not released after the Acer, the second largest PC maker in the world, said last month that they plan to launch the next generation of an application store.

Launched by FT.com, Monday, HTC plans is also a pressure on device manufacturers to differentiate themselves through service and internet content, as competition heats up in fast-growing smartphone sector, particularly among Google’s Android-based devices.

HTC has grown as a well respected manufacturer of smartphone, with a third-quarter earnings more than doubled from last year to USD2.51 billion. However, it faces increased competition with Samsung followed in the previous quarter, it seems reasonable HTC should make active innovation.

Nearest source at HTC told if there are special teams who worked as a content editor for an online store that HTC planned for their handheld devices, including for e-books, magazines as well as for applications.

The team was originally to include a small number of staff based in Taiwan, with plans to expand to 100 people in different locations around the world.

Peter Chou, HTC’s chief executive, has previously said he saw the direction HTC will run its own application store.

HTC Legend To Get Android 2.2 Update In The ‘Coming Weeks’

When Android 2.2 was released by Google, HTC had promised that most of their phones launched in 2010 will be getting the update. However, after that only the Desire Android 2.2 update was the most talked about. Now since the Desire Android 2.2 update has already been rolled out or is being rolled out in certain regions, the company has moved on to the small brother of the Desire – the Legend.

HTC has confirmed via their Facebook account that they will be rolling out the Android 2.2 update for the Legend in the ‘coming weeks’. Owners of unbranded/unlocked Legend will be among the first one to get the update with operator locked owners getting the update once it has been approved by their carrier.

It’s nice to see HTC offering Android 2.2 update for the Legend. Being a Legend owner myself, I had almost given up hope of the phone getting the Froyo update.

HTC Wildfire Coming To Multiple Carriers In US

HTC recently announced its mid-range smartphone, HTC Wildfire in the US. This handset is powered by the Android 2.1 Operating System. HTC Wildfire will be available through multiple regional North American carriers from Q4 2010. This handset allows you to access over 80,000 apps from the Android Market and helps you to stay connected with your friends on the go.

HTC Wildfire features a 3.2 inch touchscreen display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution, Android 2.1 OS, HTC Sense, 528 MHz processor, 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and flash, Wi-Fi, 3G Connectivity, Geotagging, 512 MB ROM, 384 MB RAM, 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, microUSB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.1, Digital compass, Proximity and light sensor, Friend Stream, HTC Peep and 1300 mAh battery.

This price of this handset is not announced yet, but the price is expected to be around $360 for an unlocked version. HTC Wildfire will be available on multiple carriers in the US from Q4 2010.

Nokia N8 and HTC Desire HD now available on Vodafone UK

You can go ahead and pity / envy UK mobile subscribers. If it wasn’t hard enough already, Vodafone has just thrown two more premium handsets into the fray to choose from. If you hit up Vodafone’s official UK website, you can now start placing orders for the gargantuan HTC Desire HD or the solidly-built Nokia N8. The HTC Desire HD is the European equivalent of the Sprint HTC EVO 4G (minus the 4G) found state-side. The phone sports a 4.3-inch WVGA display, runs Froyo out of the box and is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU. If this handset tickles your fancy, you can pick it up at most Vodafone retail outlets, or optionally online. According to Tech Radar, Vodafone have confirmed the following pricing and plan details:
The HTC Desire HD is available free on £35, 24 month price plans and customers buying the device online will get 900 minutes (compared to 600 offline) unlimited texts and 750MB (500MB offline) of mobile data,” the company added. Buying online will also give you 5MB of European roaming data in your bundle
If HTC is not your cup of tea, the Nokia N8, might be of interest. The N8 is the first Symbian^3 handset to hit the market. The phone has garnered mixed reviews (ours is coming soon), but has gone down well with the Nokia purists. The phone is free when signing up for a £30-a-month two year service agreement. The Nokia N8 is available in lime green exclusively to Vodafone subscribers; we’re still not sure if that’s a good thing.

HTC 7 Pro Revealed: CDMA Windows Phone 7 Device

Amidst all the commotion about the launch of 9 new Windows Phone 7 devices at the launch event on October 11, details of one phone just slipped by. That phone was the HTC 7 Pro, the only CDMA Windows Phone 7 device announced yet. It has a 3.6 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and comes with a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

Like all the other WP7 phones, it has a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and comes with 448 MB RAM. It has 8 GB / 16 GB internal storage and sports a 5 MP camera with autofocus, LED flash and 720p video recording.

It will be available in both GSM and CDMA versions. The CDMA version of the HTC 7 Pro will be available on Sprint by the end of 2010.
