  • We noticed this little tidbit hit the Android Market on Wednesday night. Winamp's official app has come to Android, in beta form, for Android 2.1 and higher handsets.

Winamp is a popular desktop music player that’s been around since 1997, written by Nullsoft.
    Here's how it's described:

Winamp for Android (beta) offers a complete media management solution for 2.1 OS & above. Sync your music from the Winamp desktop player over USB or Wi-Fi. Learn more - http://redir.su/2564.

Other features: persistent audio playback controls, play queue, scrobbling, playlist shortcuts, lock screen & widget player.

Winamp for Android wireless syncing requires, of course, a Winamp desktop application. It's that feature that sets Winamp apart from others in the crowded third-party Android media player market. If you have Winamp on your desktop, you'll want it on Android, as well. You.ll need at least the 5.59 desktop beta.

Additional details: there is a desktop widget, lock screen integration (as noted in their blurb) and yes, Last.fm scrobbling too.
